I’ve been a fan of Caribou since the days when Dan Snaith recorded as Manitoba - their first album, Start Breaking My Heart, is one of the best glitchy-laptop albums (of which there were many) from the early 2000’s. I wasn’t a fan of Up In Flames, his next album (the production didn’t do it for me), but got back into them a few years later, with Andorra, and I thoroughly loved their latest, Swim.

In 2009, Dan toured as the Caribou Vibration Ensemble, with a live band featuring Marshall Allen (of many, many Sun Ra albums), and Kieran Hebden (a.k.a. Four Tet). They even released a vinyl-only live record through ATP, which is now extremely hard to find.

But rejoice! Dan just added the whole show in HQ video to his Vimeo channel (I wonder if they were hoping for a DVD release?) and it’s amazing. It covers songs from Up In Flames through to Andorra. Tracks that previously left me cold, and the track featured here, Every Time She Turns Round It’s Her Birthday, is a great example.
